The dark half of the year is a time to remember those who have passed on. It is a time to go within and to reflect on the year that has passed. In many cultures this time of year is known as the time when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, a time to honor our deceased loved ones. Since this is the time when the spirit world is the easiest to access, it is a perfect time for divination and spirit communication.
In this presentation attendees will learn how to work with the dead, collect plants from the cemetery for magical workings and create formulas for necromantic divination. We will explore the precautions and etiquette necessary when working in the realm of the dead as well as plant allies to help us in our pursuits.
Attendees will learn about herbs both benign and baneful that can help to increase our perception of the spirit world and open doorways to initiate communication. Author and occult herbalist Coby Michael will share formulas including anointing oils, incense and smoking blends to honor the ancestors and to open the psychic senses for spirit communication.
Attendees are invited to contribute to the community Samhain/ancestor altar in remembrance and honor of our loved ones who have passed on by bringing photos, objects, or general offerings to be placed on the altar for the Halloween season. We will be constructing and dedicating the altar the evening of the workshop.
